Cabin 20, Session 2 2010.I thought this session was good. Looking back, it was nothing on session 3/4.The girl front row second on the left (curly hair, patterned tshirt) was the most wonderful girl I’ve ever met. I cried a lot when she left yesterday- 6weeks after she arrived.

I can’t believe we are already here on the last day! I’ve just written most of my banquet notes, and it’s made me pretty sad. I won’t get chance to be online after this until I get home, so this is my quick summer summary.

(get it? Summer- summery- summary?)

So yes.
Session One was pretty naff. My cabin were difficult, and I didn’t really know what I was doing- and I was on my own. Then Session Two the cabin were better, though still not awesome, and I was given the wonderful Maddy as a co-co. It was such a lot of fun, but Session three got even better. I had a cabin of fun, unique and crazy girls who just wanted to enjoy themselves… and so I enjoyed myself! Then Maddy had to leave :( But I was given Mary for session Four…. and it’s been the best ever!
I’ve been lucky to have been surrounded by talented and fun people all summer. I have never cried so much, laughed so much or been so much in love.
This place is so far beyond beautiful I can’t even describe it. The ‘Mohawk Spirit’ really is present- as I said to Steph earlier, if I didn’t come back to Mohawk I  could not go to another camp. I fully intend to return to camp next year, it’s been the best summer ever and I really feel I’ve learnt a lot about myself and grown up. I’ve made the best friends I could ask for. Erin, Mary, Maddy, Steph, Allie, Katie, Charlotte, Alison, Rachel, Hillary, Eimear, Kira, Christina… to name but a few! I absolutely adore the girls here, counselors and campers. I’m so excited that Steph is going to come visit me in England, and I intend to visit the other British counselors as much as possible.

Without a doubt, the decision to come to Mohawk was the best one I’ve ever made, and I am so sad thinking that some of these girls I’ll never see again. I am not ready to go home yet, I love it here too much.

Tonight is the final Banquet, and I fully expect many many tears.

Mohawkers born and Mohawkers bred, and when we die we’re mohawkers dead.
So RARA for Mohawk, RA RA for Mohawk, RA RA for Mohawk Camp…

Today is the final thursday. I have ONE cabin activity left, TWO drama lessons, TWO set design lessons and TWO method lessons. Tomorrow is Banquet. I need to write 50 banquet notes nearly, before tomorrow night!

I can’t believe we’re already starting to go. I’ve started to pack and it’s depressing.

However, we’ve had a good few days. We went to Nellie’s on Tuesday because of winning cleanest cabin- we had AMAZING ice cream :D And yesterday siesta I went on the high ropes and am belaying Steph up today :)

Two more Mohawk days to go….

We went on the High Ropes course yesterday in Siesta…. a high wire 20ft up… pretty awesome!Makes me want to go rock climbing again!

Haven’t had time to write properly in a while!
Well, life at Mohawk is much the same. We’re pretty busy now because it’s getting to the end of the last session so everything needs to be left neatly. A few counselors left at the weekend, which was really sad, but other than that there’s a real positive attitude around camp- everyone’s excited to go home!

We have the rest of today, wednesday thursday friday as normal. Then the girls leave on saturday, we have clean up time until 2.30 then we go to the Staff Party at a lake somewhere, and have a meal and stuff :) Then back to camp/Torrington, then at 8.30/9 sunday morning we leave for New York City! EXCITED.

This summer has literally flown by.

Beauty and the Beast is going well- one of the best yet I think, although we haven’t had a proper no stops runthrough yet. Set design is same as ever. Drama Method has been amazing. it’s a one week course, and two of the girls who took it last week have re taken it and brought the rest of their cabin because they loved it so much- even though they know there’ll be repetition! So I’m pretty happy with that!

All in all, life at Mohawk is fab. and I am not ready to go home just yet!

So, long time no posting.
We’ve started Session 4 now, final fortnight, we’re on the home stretch now! New cabin of girls are pretty good, I have a different co-counselor now as Maddy had to go home. I’m now with Mary, she’s one of the girls I lived with in staff training from England and I love her so much so it’s great :)
Beauty and the Beast is this sessions play and it’s going well so far, we’re only on the 3rd day though!
Last night we were supposed to go to the Ballfield to watch the meteor shower but it was too cloudy, so we might go tonight after the dance. The dance has been moved to today instead of next wednesday ‘cause the boy scouts were only free today. It’s a bit weird but cool. Also Cook out tonight :D Which is awesome!

One of the horses died in the middle of the night last night, so there’s a bit of a sombre mood among the riders, it’s really weird and I’m expecting lots of tears throughout the day from some girls.

Mary and I have a casino planned for this afternoon’s cabin activity which should be amaaaazing! Can’t wait.
In 13 days I’ll be home, pretty crazy!

So that’s a quick update on what’s going on at Mohawk :)

The New York Times are coming to Camp Mohawk! HOW CRAZY?!

The American Camping Association are here today checking us out aswell- so we’re all on our best behaviour for a day!

Wizard of Oz is going good, Set Design is a bit crazy but fun, and I’m now teaching Drama Method too! So yeah, Camp is good.

Will write more when I get time!

25/07/2010 Start of Session 3

Okay, so Session 3 officially starts at 1pm today. It’s is now 10pm, and I officially start work again at 11. YAY.

We went to Lake Compounce on our day off yesterday- it was so much fun but absolutely exhausting- and then into Torrington for the usual ice cream and Kmart :P

I have quite a lot to do in terms of sorting everything out for the Wizard of Oz, and cabin activities and stuff. But all the cabin stuff I can’t do ‘til Maddy returns!

It’s been gloriously sunny all day, and there was another huge storm last night, and apparently we’re going to have storms all week, or rain at least. Which will be pleasant.
My cough still persists, but the nurses are doing a good job of keeping me high on cough syrup!

Only two more sessions to go, and if they go as quickly as the last one they’ll be over in no time whatsoever!
